We are glad to announce that we are now co-sponsoring theological education in Zlín. We are partnering with Martin Bucer Seminary in Germany (only in German) to provide theological classes. This new ministry is an official study center in Moravia of the Martin Bucer seminary. Also, the classes are part of the ministry of Timothy Institute which is a Czech organization that MTW Czech Republic helped start to promote Reformed teaching in the Czech Republic.
The theological program is designed to serve a wide range of educational needs. We have started with four students from the Zlín Reformed Church. The classes will also be for some people who want to know a little more about the evangelical faith, and for those who want to train to become pastors, and for those who have educational interests somewhere in between. People may come for a few lectures or enroll in a formal academic program leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
We have several people in the Czech Republic who will be teaching courses. We plan to bring together lectures and professors who will be able to offer enough courses so a student can receive a complete theological education with five or six years of study. We are recruiting professorswho are interested in coming as full-time missionaries or those who would come for a week or more to teach a class. Contact one of the people below for more information on how you could serve. Many courses will be taught in a weekend format, which means a Friday evening, plus Saturday, once a month. Classes will normally be bilingual, taught either in English or German with Czech translation or in Czech.
Academic Director for this Program is PCA TE Thomas K. Johnson, BA, M.Div, ACPE, Ph.D. Tom has taught in nine universities and theological schools in Europe and the U.S. He is a missionary with International Institute for Christian Studies and is a founding member of the provisional presbytery of the Reformed Church. He also served as a pastor for about ten years in the PCA.
